The Local Area
The Black Isle is a wonderful spot just north of Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland. A stream of lovely small villages lie along the waters edge as you progress over the Kessock Bridge and wind your way along the coast towards Rosemarkie.
Rosemarkie itself is a small village on the south eastern coast of the Black Isle, about 20 minutes drive from Inverness. The village has everything you could hope for with two pubs, newsagents and a wonderful delicatessen. With it's beautiful bay, rocky coves and ports, and amenities for the whole family,Tigh-na-Mara really is the ideal base for your holiday.
Our Favourite Things...
We love living on the Black Isle and we really believe it is the perfect holiday destination. Our very favourite ways to wile away the day range from the simple pleasures of exploring the beach on your doorstep to playing a round of golf on one of the many excellent courses nearby, exploring ancient castles and historic sites, wildlife watching, coastal walks or bagging munros... the list goes on and on.
The Black Isle is also the perfect jumping off point for adventures further into the wilds of the highlands. Gairloch and Ullapool are just over an hours drive West, or John o'Groats and Durness lie 3-4 hours North.
